The MHA has sought another extension from the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha parliamentary committees to establish the regulations of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) 2019. According to the Manual on Parliamentary Work, a Ministry/Department that cannot develop rules within six months of a bill being passed must obtain a three-month extension from the Committee on Subordinate Legislation.
