UPSC Mains General Studies Paper 3 - Security

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs. 10 lakh for Jaswinder Singh Multani of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), who was arrested along with associates from other banned outfits such as the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) and the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) for reportedly trying to reignite terrorism in Punjab. Multani has also been implicated in the recent explosion at the Ludhiana court complex, according to preliminary findings.

The NIA has made an accusation. He is accused of communicating with proKhalistani groups and the ISI in Pakistan and plotting terror attacks in Mumbai and other parts of the country. The NIA opened the case in response to a directive from the Center to investigate the allegations leveled against Multani. German police detained and then freed him last month at the request of an Indian agency. Multani's name was mentioned in two Punjab police FIRs filed last year.
